I remembered how difficult it was when we first arrived and tried to buy an automatic car in UK. We were tight on budget and automatics are rare - which is odd given how much time you spend stop starting in traffic. We spent hours googling and looking through pages and pages of online advertisement. We braved the drizzling rain to check out cars, test driving, negotiating and after 7 days and nights of hard work, we found it! Our Ford Focus 2000 car with 30K mileage in a car yard in Evesham.I have to admit that it was me who insisted on an Automatic car. I found that I was stressed enough trying to adapt to a new country, driving on narrow lanes, navigating spaghetti highway and endless cars that park and stop anywhere at will, the last thing I want was to worry about changing gears. I was cautioned not to buy a lemon or a bomb too coz just the thought of us breaking down in a middle of a traffic jam made me sweat.
We bought this car for £4000 and we've had no problems with it since day 1. We must have travelled around 10,000 miles and the mileage is still very good (43156). We recently spent more than £500 to service the car which includes changing the two front tyres to pass the MOT and the MOT is now valid till 30th April 2009.
We thought of bringing the car back to Australia coz we love it so much, but unfortunately it costs too much to convert the car to comply with Australia's Road Transport requirements.
We are hoping to fetch £2300 to fund our pending move and we welcome you to contact us through the comment at the bottom, or phone my hubby Matt's mobile 077 8539 1839.
